Eduard JX216 is a set of self-adhesive 1:35 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the Fl 282 Kolibri model from MiniArt. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Flettner Fl 282 Kolibri:

The Fl 282 Kolibri was a German observation helicopter designed by Anton Flettner. It used two counter-rotating, intermeshing main rotors mounted on outward-canted masts, which removed the need for a tail rotor. The first flight took place in 1941. The machine was among the first rotorcraft to reach an operationally usable stage of development. The cockpit gave the pilot a good downward field of view, useful for observation.

The helicopter was intended mainly for observation, artillery spotting and reconnaissance, including launches from platforms aboard Kriegsmarine warships and convoy escort. Despite an order for a larger batch, only about 24 examples were built, as bombing of the factories halted series production. Power came from a Bramo Sh 14A radial engine, and the crew was a single pilot, or a pilot and observer in the two-seat version. Trials showed satisfactory controllability for the state of rotorcraft development at the time.
