Painting masks for the model – faster, more accurate painting

This set contains self-adhesive masks shaped to the model, making it easier to paint selected areas – depending on the set these may be the road wheels, glazing or other details. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp, even edges without hand masking with tape.

The masks are applied to the model before spraying and removed once the paint has dried. The set speeds up painting and improves its precision.

About the vehicle – ZiL-157:

The ZiL-157 is a Soviet 6x6 off-road truck, produced by the ZiL works from 1958 as a successor to the ZiS-151. Power came from an inline six-cylinder petrol engine, and all axles were driven, giving good off-road performance. The vehicle featured a central tyre pressure regulation system allowing traction to be adjusted to the terrain. The design was characterised by simplicity and resistance to harsh operating conditions.

The ZiL-157 was one of the principal transport vehicles of the Soviet Army and Eastern Bloc states, used to carry troops and cargo and as a chassis for various bodies: tankers, workshops, launchers and engineering equipment. It was also operated in civilian versions and exported to many countries, where it served for decades. Thanks to its reliability and ease of repair it remained in use long after production ended, which continued intermittently until the 1990s.

Original specifications (ZiL-157):

  • Length: approx. 6.92 m
  • Width: approx. 2.32 m
  • Height: approx. 2.36 m
  • Kerb weight: approx. 5.5 t
  • Payload: 2.5 t off-road / 4.5 t on-road
  • Crew/cab: driver + 2
  • Drive: 6x6, all-wheel drive
  • Engine: ZiL-157 (inline 6-cyl., petrol), 104 hp
  • Max. speed: approx. 65 km/h
  • Range: approx. 510 km
  • Equipment: central tyre pressure regulation system
  • Production: from 1958
