Road wheel masks – even edges on the rubber tyres

This set contains self-adhesive masks shaped to the model road wheels, letting you paint the rubber tyres separately from the hubs. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving a sharp, even boundary between the metal hub and the rubber without freehand painting.

The masks are applied to the wheels, the tyre or hub colour is airbrushed, and the masks are removed once dry. The set greatly speeds up one of the more tedious steps in painting a vehicle.

About the vehicle – SU-152 - Soviet heavy self-propelled gun, 152 mm:

The SU-152 was a Soviet heavy self-propelled gun, developed in 1943 on the chassis of the KV-1S heavy tank. The 152 mm ML-20S gun-howitzer was mounted in a large fixed superstructure. The vehicle was designed in a very short time as a versatile platform able to support attacks, destroy fortifications and engage the enemy's heavy armoured vehicles with heavy shells.

The SU-152 saw its combat debut at the Battle of Kursk, where it proved effective against German heavy tanks, earning the nickname "Zveroboy" (beast killer). About 670 units were built before production shifted to the IS chassis, giving rise to the ISU-152. Its limitations were a small ammunition load and slow loading of the heavy, separate-loading rounds.

Original specifications (SU-152 - Soviet heavy self-propelled gun, 152 mm):

  • Length (gun forward): approx. 8.95 m
  • Width: 3.25 m
  • Height: 2.45 m
  • Combat weight: 45.5 t
  • Crew: 5
  • Armament: ML-20S gun-howitzer, 152 mm calibre
  • Armour (max): 75 mm
  • Engine: V-2K diesel, 600 hp
  • Top speed: 43 km/h
  • Range: approx. 330 km
  • Production: approx. 670 units, 1943
