1:35 scale plastic figure set of ducks and geese

MiniArt 38114 is a set for self-assembly and painting, containing ducks and geese in various poses. It is a scenic detail that introduces an element of life into a diorama – well suited to scenes of farms, yards, village smallholdings and rural landscapes, as well as to enliven the background of military scenes set in the countryside.

The set of 33 birds in varied poses lets you build a natural-looking group – standing, pecking, walking and resting. That variety keeps the scene from looking artificial, and the small figures add scale and story.

What's in the box:

  • Plastic parts with 33 bird models (ducks and geese)
  • Illustrated assembly instructions

Kit specifications:

  • Scale: 1:35
  • Catalogue number: 38114
  • Manufacturer: MiniArt
  • Number of figures: 33 bird models
  • Skill level: beginner/intermediate (small figures, painting)

Note: The kit does not include glue, paints or modelling tools. The figures are intended for self-assembly and painting.

Building the model:

Assembly is simple, and the result depends mainly on the painting. Because of their small size it is worth using fine brushes and precision tweezers. For a natural look we recommend varying the colouring of the individual birds and applying gentle highlights to the feathers; details can be emphasised with a subtle wash, and the softness of the plumage with dry-brushing.

Tools you will need:

  • Modelling side cutters for removing parts from the sprues
  • Hobby knife or scalpel
  • Plastic cement
  • Precision modelling tweezers
  • Fine brushes for details
  • Modelling paints (acrylic or enamel)
  • A wash to bring out the details

About the set – details for a village diorama:

A well-planned diorama lives through its details. Small elements such as farm animals give a scene scale, guide the eye and tell the story of a place. Ducks and geese are a typical sight around a rural smallholding, a backyard pond or a yard, which makes them an excellent complement to scenes set in agricultural surroundings.

The set can be used both in quiet civilian dioramas and in wartime scenes where vehicles or soldiers move through a village – the contrast between everyday life and military action adds expression to such scenes.
